Two-Hundred and Thirty-Four years ago, our Founding Fathers pledged their lives, fortunes, and sacred honor -

putting literally their lives, their wealth, and their reputations on the line - to guarantee freedom for future generations.

Because of their sacrifices, America is still the longest on-going constitutional republic in the history of the world.

This is a blessing that we too often take for granted, states historian David Barton of Wall Builders.
Many religious leaders, both past and present assert that in order to protect this nation’s founding documents -

Declaration of Independence, U.S. Constitution, Federalist Papers - one must recognize that the Bible’s Old and

New Testaments, as well as Judeo-Christian beliefs, must be the underpinnings of the founding documents.

Otherwise, we are faced with decisions by judges and government officials that are adverse to Constitutional principles

and our individual freedoms.

David Barton and Wall Builders suggest that as this Fourth of July approaches, we should break ranks

with those who only participate in “traditional” activities and remember to:

-Take time to honor and thank God on the Fourth -
make it a day celebrated ”with solemn acts of devotion to God Almighty.”

The Limitless Power of the Obama-Kagan Congress

This Sunday, our nation will celebrate Independence Day, which commemorates the Continental Congress’

adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776. Thomas Jefferson’s Declaration preamble reads:

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator

with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” The fact that

we as a nation came together every year to celebrate this document might lead many Americans to believe that a
Supreme Court Justice should take the Declaration of Independence into account when they are interpreting

the Constitution. Elena Kagan is not one of those Americans. Under questioning from Sen. Tom Coburn (R-OK)

yesterday, Kagan admitted: ”To be honest with you, I don’t have a view of what are natural rights independent

of the Constitution.”

And Kagan’s disturbing indifference to the existence of natural rights is just one of the many frightening revelations

her confirmation hearing has produced.

Inhofe: Obama Trying to Trade Border Security for Sweeping Amnesty

President Barack Obama’s zeal to give illegal immigrants amnesty is holding the
nation’s border security hostage to his political agenda, says GOP Sen. Jim
Inhofe.
As Obama called on Congress to tackle comprehensive immigration reform in a
speech Thursday afternoon, Inhofe told Newsmax in an exclusive interview that
the president clearly is using border security as a bargaining chip to obtain
amnesty for millions of illegal aliens residing in the United States.

That was the same charge made by Inhofe’s friend and colleague, Arizona GOP Sen.
John Kyl, who stirred controversy last week when he revealed a discussion in
which Obama told him that taking action to secure the Mexican border “would
remove the incentive for comprehensive immigration reform.” The White House has
denied Kyl’s allegation.
Inhofe told Newsmax that he has total faith in Kyl’s assertion because he “has
never told a lie” in the almost 25 years he has known him.

Election clock ticks for campaign finance bill facing a crowded Senate agenda

Despite a hard-fought victory in the House, supporters of the Democratic
campaign finance bill are now confronting a more dispiriting reality: the
dwindling chances the legislation will affect the fall elections.
Advocates of the Disclose Act have long pointed to July 4 as a deadline for
enacting the law so that its provisions could be implemented and enforceable
during the hotly-contested midterm congressional campaign. But with the Senate
bogged down in fights over tax legislation, a Supreme Court nomination and
energy proposals, that marker will almost surely pass without action on campaign
finance.

Attacks on the Electoral College Gain Momentum

You won’t hear about it in the mainstream media, but the Electoral College is on
the verge of being eliminated. One important legislative vote could occur
Thursday. Two others could occur in the upcoming days and weeks.

A California-based group, National Popular Vote, is lobbying hard for a
dangerous piece of anti-Electoral College legislation. My NRO article on the
mechanics of the legislation is here. Five states have already approved NPV, but
now three additional states are dangerously close to joining them: Delaware,
Massachusetts, and New York. Another trio of state legislatures approved the
scheme, but their governors vetoed the plan. These latter states remain
important; a reasonable argument can be made that the gubernatorial vetoes are
irrelevant.

Modern democratic socialists like Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Dodd, Frank and Clinton
have destroyed private sector manufacturing, private lending, private
investment, private health care coverage and fiscal responsibility in the USA.
The international labor movement is directly responsible for destroying fiscal
responsibility in many nations, now to include the U.S. But that’s who funds
Democrat campaigns…
Their answer to the disasters they have created is to confiscate more control -
create more regulations – spend more and tax more. Not even the socialist
nations of Europe support Obama’s continued spend and collapse policies at this
dangerous hour.
This is not hard people… We have been here before, when a Democrat promised to
be all things to all people and pay for it from the public trough. Let’s be
honest here… the utopia of communism sounds great to most people who believe
that something for nothing actually exists on this planet.
However, no such thing exists. Everything costs something….
But the worst news is that unlike FDR’s financial disaster which drove the
nation’s debt to 121.25% of GDP in 1946, but left America’s free-market economic
tools necessary for producing our way out of that corner intact - the Obama
administration is spending the nation even deeper in debt while systematically
destroying the free-market economy needed to produce our way out of that corner.

(Even a Few) Words Matter

Sometimes deterrence against aggression is lost with just a few unfortunate
words or a relatively minor gesture….
In the last 18 months, the Obama administration has made a number of seemingly
insignificant remarks and gestures - many well-intended and reasoned - that
might be interpreted as a new U.S. indifference to aggression….

A deferential and apologetic President Obama may think he is making those abroad
like us - and he may be right in some cases. But if history is any guide,
aggressive powers are paying close attention to these seemingly insignificant
signs. Soon, they may turn their wild ideas into concrete aggression - once they
convince themselves that America neither wants to nor is able to stop them.
